Online Booking Ferry Travel - Web Resources

Booking tickets online for ferry boats is easy to do and what would the world be like if there were no ferries which we could travel on from time to time. Most ferry companies sail between European countries and there are a number of webs sites which you can look at for locating the route and costs as well as bookings.

Here is a short list of some of the more comprehensive web sites you can use.

European:

AFerry.com - This is a British company which allows users to look and book.  It is a portal to multiple ferry operators but the costs are billed in British pounds.
DirectFerries - Another British company which allows users to look and book.  Same as above with links to multiple ferry operators also billed in British pounds.

Sea Travel Greek Ferries - Paleologos S.A. - This is a portal to Greek ferries priced in Euro currency.
Bodrum Ferry Lines - This is another portal for booking Greek ferries and to Turkey.

Smyril Ferry Line - This is a portal for booking the ferry for Iceland to the European mainland.

FerriesOnLine - This is a portal for booking ferries in the Mediterranean region.

Between Spain and Morocco:

FRS - This is a portal for bookings between a number of ports in Spain to Morocco and it is very easy to use with an English language version

Transmediterranea - This is another good provider for ferry tickets and their web site and online bookings system is very easy to use.

A Bit of Asia:

Pelni Ferry Line - This is the web site for the routes and schedules for ferries in Indonesia. Informational use only, no booking. ***NOT WORKING***

Langkawi Ferry Service -  This is the web site for routes, schedules and online bookings for ferries running from Langkawi island Malaysia to mostly Malaysian destinations but also to Medan, Indonesia. ***NOTE***  There is not a ferry from Penang to Medan according to an email received from an enquiry I made on 1-12-2012 and this is mostly due to cheap flights now being offered.

Penguin Ferry Lines - ***NOT WORKING*** This is the web site for routes, schedules and costs for ferries originating in Singapore. This is mostly for boats going to the islands of Singapore but in addition for travel to Medan from Singapore which means you must go to the island of Batam first then book passage on Pelni Ferry line to Medan, Indonesia. Also, here is one web site which gives a very good overview of traveling by ferry from Singapore to Indonesia. The Inn Crowd Hostel. I have personally stayed at this hostel and their information is very good.

The European listings are comprehensive and some overlap each other.  However, I do hope that these will be helpful and useful links.

Happy and safe Travels.
