Sunsets - World Wide

There are sunsets, then there are "Sunsets". Some places in the world produce the absolute best and most visually stunning sunsets and in capturing these images, I am always amazed at the colors which can be produced. Due to the nature of sunsets and in my mind the limited places in the world where fantastic sunsets occur, there will not be that many posted but I hope that the ones I do post are as special to you as they were to my camera. Depending on the weather, clouds, atmospheric conditions and locations, the best time for vibrant photographs is after the sun has completely set, then the clouds explode in color.

Sunset Egypt
This part of the world is blessed with a lot of dust and during certain parts of the year the clouds roll in and produce some of the most fantastic sunsets. This image is produced from multiple images to produce the panoramic view. Photo: Nile River, Luxor, Egypt

Argentina is a beautiful country and one of the places on the planet where the sunsets can be so fantastic. This image was taken traveling in the Patagonia region heading to El Calafate. These sunsets are products of the atmospheric conditions which exist in the Patagonian region more often much further to the south of the country. Look closely at the bottom of the photo and you will see the power poles. This was photographed as I was bouncing up&down in the back of the bus. Photo: Patagonia, Southern Region Argentina

Faluca Sunset Nile Luxor Egypt
This image is a combination of back lighting and silhouetting. Silhouetting is used to show just the outline of the subject with no details of the subject itself. This image is also combining a nice sunset to take advantage of the back light and produce the silhouette in the image. This is a very popular location but due to certain geopolitical issues now, it is one place you may be required to wait a number of years to see. Photo: Nile River, Luxor, Egypt

You must think, how can I post this image under sunsets, well, I titled this image Sunset-Smog & Smoke Stacks, and being able to actually witness any sort of sunset in this particular region of this country is very rare indeed. This image was taken in 2009 and having been back to this country mid 2012 I can say with certainty that an image of this sort is not seen much. Photo: Train between Kunming & Chongqing, China
Sunrise Borneo Malaysia
This is a sunrise. The image was taken from atop the 20th highest mountain in the world as ranked by this web site. This is just prior to the sun actually breaking above the layer of clouds below. The climb to the summit takes only 2 days and the decent is done in one full day. The summit is 4095 meters. Photo: Mt. Kinabalu, Borneo Island, Malaysia

Ibiza Sunset
There is a beach which is a small cove with rocky cliffs and for a short period the sun sets between the rocky cliffs producing amazing sunsets. This time frame where the sun sets like this is only for a few months then as the earth tilts the sunset is either to one side or the other of the rocky cliffs at the opening of the beach.
